Kids can learn a lot from visiting a historical sites and by visiting they can visualize about the past times. Though, visiting any historical sites is both creative and educational. These steps will make them realize of those time, how people used to work and how hard life was in the past. Kids do have a good imaginative power and through imagination they can understand about the past struggle.

There are certain topics in history like Freedom, Slavery, Wars and other concepts which we cannot be explain them through words. To explain it you need to provide a realistic vision to your child. There are various museums, war sites etc where you can take your kids to show the recent historical events. Also, the cultural museums which depict the art and craft followed in those days. They can easily visualize and understand how hard the life was in the past.

Most of the historical sites are now deserted and ruined completely either due to wars or natural calamities. These historical places can make them aware what has been destroyed. Make them visit such places, these places makes the children learn in deep about those times. Kids are small and so are their problems, but the historical trip can show them the real picture of how hard life was. People have to travel miles just to fetch water and food for survival.

Make them read about such places and then visit there. Try visiting an old battlefield, historical site, palace or castle. Your child can then have a tangible experience that matches what he or she has already read. History is very stimulating to a young mind when it is actually experienced.

Let your child make a summer reading list

Research shows that reading skills can be maintained by reading four or more books in the vacation. It provides a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to connect. It’s a nice way to spend time together with your child from your hectic day or schedule.

Preschoolers and elementary school-aged kids have a wide range of reading abilities. It’s a good idea to take their lead when it comes to simple versus complex books. When they begins to read on their own, you can involve them in the process of reading together by asking them to read words or sentences out loud. This is great practice. Experts recommend engaging in literacy activities (like reading) for around 30 minutes per day.

Reading could be of various topics. It may include like: traffic signs or cereal boxes, singing songs, listening to audiobooks together, or having your child read to you to the best of their ability. All you really need to do is take the time to read with your child.

Be consistent: 

Whether it’s one book per day or a small story lesson, try to make a regular routine of it. And when you are at it, try not to read different books each time you sit. Kids love hearing the same stories over and over again — and they do learn through this type of repetition of it. Make sure not never narrate different stories all the time to confuse them or make them feel bore.

Take your time:

Make sure you have to sit and read a story with your child. Weather it’s a morning or evening make sure you sit with them on a regular basis. Of course, you won’t have loads of time each day to read, so some quickies are just fine. However, your child should realise that reading is a dedicated activity and make sure you give your full attention to it.

Make it a fun reading activity: 

Your child would love when you will narrate the stories different voices for characters, pauses, songs, or other dramatics to make it come into real life. Reading with flair will help your child to understand the story better. It will also provide a good model of expression and fluent reading for kids who have just begun reading by themselves.

Let your child write about themselves

By plotting out a storyline, a child can create drama or surprises in their story. Along with learning, writing is the most significant milestone that parents often wonder about. Encourage them to write their own story. This will help them to imagine things, organise their thoughts and communicate their feelings. It is the perfect way for a child to express their feeling and emotions.

This can then be applied as the everyday tasks, which will help them to improve their own skills and be prepare them for the day ahead. You can also help them by providing your children a theme, for example: your family vacation, and let them write about it in a personal diary, don’t restrict their ideas allow them to write, illustrate, design, everything.
